Spring Valley Little League (NV)

Frequently Answered Questions

Most questions are answered below. Please review this page before contacting the league. There is A LOT of information here, please make sure your question isn’t specifically answered here before reaching out to the league.

1. When does the season start?

Spring Valley Little League currently offers two seasons a year.

Our Spring season usually opens for registration around Thanksgiving and closes Early to Mid January. Evaluations and Drafts follow shortly after registration closing. Practices usually start End of January/Early February with games starting Mid to Late March and usually go through mid May. Spring season is the season that Little League has their Allstars tournaments.

Or Fall season usually opens for registration around June 1st and closes Mid August. Evaluations and Drafts follow shortly after registration closing. Practices usually start End of August/Early September with games starting Late September or Early October and usually end around Thanksgiving.

2. When are practices? When will games be?

For both the Spring and Fall seasons, practice slots are usually available to our teams Monday-Friday 5pm to 9pm and Saturdays from 9am to 5pm. Individual team schedules will depend on coaches preference for practices and the game schedule determined by the league. Younger divisions tend to take the early slots of 5pm-7pm during the week or early Saturday mornings  ( Tee Ball, A or AA ) while the older divisions ( AAA, Majors, Uppers) tend to take the later slots of 7pm-9pm during the week. While we try to accommodate everyone as best as possible, schedule conflicts are possible.

The game schedules usually mimic these practice schedules and time slots. Interleaguing divisions such as Softball or Upper Division are scheduled by other leagues and their game schedules may differ from our standard schedules.

If it is currently preseason and teams aren’t formed, there is no way for SVLL to fully know or predict an individual player’s schedule or days of the week. Please refer to the above general guidelines as that's the best idea we can give during out of season times.

3. How does registration work? What division should I sign up my child for?

Our registration page is here!

New Families:

When you want to register your child or children and do not have an existing account, please click the link directly above. Once on the page, click the image of whichever division you'd like; Baseball or Softball. Please note that Baseball is coed, Softball is for females only. Once you click on the corresponding division, you will see all divisions currently available along with costs. Please register for the most age appropriate division. PLEASE NOTE THAT WHILE YOU CAN REGISTER FOR ANY DIVISION THAT'S AGE APPROPRIATE, ANY DIVISION ABOVE SINGLE A IS NOT GUARANTEED FOR YOUR PLAYER AS FINAL PLACEMENT IS DETERMINED BY THE DRAFT AND THE DRAFT ONLY.

Returning Families:

When you want to register your child or children and have an existing account, please click the tab at the top of the page labeled "Login". Once in your account, you will see all available programs for any child on your account. Please only register for one division for each player.

4. What is the waitlist? How does the waitlist work? Will my child still be able to play this season?

Once our registration for the current season officially closes, we activate a waitlist system for all families trying to sign up after that date. Joining the waitlist is FREE however, if your player does get placed on a team after, you are obligated to pay the division price and a $25 late fee.

Every season, we do have players drop off a team for a variety of reasons and we try to replace these players with players on the waitlist. However, signing up for a waitlist does not guarantee your player will be placed on a team for this season. While our goal is always to have every single child wanting to play has that opportunity, the realities of roster limitations, uniform ordering, scheduling and coaching limitations prevent us from being able to place every player after registration has closed.

If your player does get placed on a team after joining the waitlist, you will get an automated email notifying you. The coach will then be notified and should reach out. If you are activated and no longer wish to play, please contact [email protected].

If your player isn't placed by the time season starts, we highly recommend following our social pages on Facebook or Instagram to make sure you stay in the loop for the next registration period.

5. I registered my player months ago but still haven’t heard anything from the league or a coach, am I missing anything? When will I hear from our coach?

Our registration windows are usually months long. If you register at the beginning of these windows, it is entirely NORMAL not to hear from a league official or a coach for months. As long as it shows your player signed up for a division when you login to your account on our site, your player is in our system. It is also key to remember our typical season timelines listed above under question #1. We also highly recommend following our social pages on Facebook or Instagram to make sure you stay in the loop with current season milestones such as registration closing, evaluation information and season dates.

You should hear from your coach within two weeks of registration closing. It usually takes us a league a couple of weeks to fully roster teams and get the information to the coaches.

6. Why am I paying a mandatory $50 fee on registration?

Starting with the Spring 2026 season, SVLL has instituted a mandatory fully refundable volunteer deposit. This deposit will be collected during the player registration process. This deposit is per account, not per player so families with multiple players will only be charged once per season. This is not intended to be a money grab or a way to get more money from families. This fee was established to help generate volunteer help. SVLL is COMPLETELY run and operated by volunteers and a non-profit. No one affiliated with this organization is paid in any way. We rely HEAVILY on volunteers to keep the league operating.

There are currently four ways to get refunded for the volunteer deposit. Each family must meet ONE of the following criteria to get refunded the deposit: ( Each must be verified by the Board of SVLL to receive refund )

1. Volunteer in the Snack Shack at Desert Breeze for two shifts OR

2. Coach a team ( Head Coach or Assistant Coaches ) OR

3. Volunteer to work and help plan an event such as Opening Day OR

4. Be an active Board Member

Families who do not fulfill one of these requirements will forfeit the deposit at the end of the current season. No partial refunds will be issued.

7. I want to help coach my player’s team, how do I sign up?

During player registration, you’ll be able to indicate areas you’re interested in helping. Alternatively, please sign up as a volunteer on our website.

8. I was told I am required to complete coach related training to be able to coach my player’s team. What are these and why do I need to do them?

All coaches and assistant coaches are required to complete Little League–mandated training prior to participating on field or in the dugout with children.

  • Background check

  • Abuse Awareness Training

  • First Aid Training

These requirements are required EVERY YEAR and are in place to protect the safety of all players, ensure compliance with Little League International policies, protect volunteers and the league from liability and maintain our insurance coverage. No volunteer may participate in practices or games until all required training has been completed and verified.

9. I want to sponsor a team, how do I do that?

SVLL heavily relies on sponsors to keep our registration costs affordable for families in our community. Any money donated to our league directly goes to field permit costs, field lights and maintenance, uniform costs and any equipment costs. To sponsor our league, please visit our page on our website to view our sponsorship tiers and fill out this form. Once the form is turned in, we will follow up with a payment link. Thank you for sponsoring our league!

10. I keep hearing about the SVLL Board, who are they?

The SVLL Board is a group of volunteer parents and community members who oversee the operation of the league. Every volunteer involved with SVLL is completely unpaid. The shared goal is to provide a positive environment for players and give everyone a chance to play baseball or softball.

Board responsibilities include:

  • Player registration

  • Scheduling

  • Safety compliance

  • Field coordination

  • Budget oversight

  • Volunteer coordination

  • League policies and discipline

To see a current list of Board of Directors, please click here!

11. Are coaches paid by the league? Do I get a discount if I coach?

All coaches with SVLL are unpaid volunteers. There is no registration discount for coaching, although you will be eligible to receive the volunteer fee back as part of coaching.

Coaching is a volunteer position and requires completion of all league-required training.

12. Where does the money I pay for registration go?

Registration fees are used to cover league operating expenses, including:

  • Uniforms

  • Equipment and safety gear

  • Field rentals, field lights and field maintenance

  • Umpire fees

  • Insurance

  • Little League charter and fees

  • Field supplies and improvements

SVLL is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, and 100% of our funds are injected back into the league. All funds collected are used to operate and improve the league for the benefit of players.

13. What is League Age and why does it matter?

League Age is the official age used by Little League to determine which division(s) a player is eligible or required  to participate in. League Age is determined by the player’s age on 8/31 of the current year. For example, if your player turns 12 on 3/29 for the 2026 season, they would be 12 years old on 8/31/2026 and therefore would be League Age 12.

League Age is enforced by our league and helps ensure:

  • Fair competition

  • Safety

  • Compliance with Little League rules

14. My neighbor coaches and his player plays in the league. I want our player to be on the same team, is that possible?

Players in the Tee Ball and Single A can request teammates or coaches. However, these requests are NOT guaranteed and subject to league approval and roster limitations. Players in Double A or above may NOT request teammates or coaches. Final placement for these divisions are determined SOLELY by the Drafts for these divisions. Once the Draft for a division is completed and the rosters are created, a parent CAN NOT REQUEST a player to be moved from team to team or division to division. All rostering post draft is FINAL and may not be altered by parent or player requests.

15. Where does SVLL play?

Our baseball league uses three field complexes for our practices and games while softball and upper divisions can play at various fields across the Las Vegas Valley.

For the Spring seasons, our games for Majors and below will be held at Desert Breeze Park with practices being held there or Potosi Park, depending on individual team schedules. Upper Divisions will practice and play home games at Paul Meyer Park with away games at various locations. Softball will practice and play home games at Desert Breeze Park with away games at various locations depending on team and division.

For the Fall seasons, our games for Majors and below will be held at Potosi Park with practices being held there or Desert Breeze, depending on individual team schedules. Upper Divisions will practice and play home games at Paul Meyer Park with away games at various locations. Softball will practice and play home games at Desert Breeze Park or Potosi Park with away games at various locations depending on team and division.

We also occasionally use Red Ridge Park for either season when needed.

16. Do we get uniforms?

Every team in our league for each season will receive a jersey and a hat. Softball will not receive a hat. Uniform design is determined by the Board Of Diectors and the team names/choices are determined by the coach.

Every player will need to purchase their own pants, socks and belts. The coach for your team will determine what colors to purchase for each item, SVLL does not mandate color choices.

17. What bat do I get for my player?

Players participating in the Tee Ball division are REQUIRED to use a USA BASEBALL stamped bat that either says Tee Ball or Approved for use with tee balls.

Players participating in Single A or above are REQUIRED to use a USA BASEBALL stamped bat. Tee Ball bats are NOT allowed past Tee Ball. USSSA or other regulation bats are ILLEGAL in Little League and will be removed by Umpires or Coaches.

Players participating in Softball programs must have a fastpitch softball bat that says “1.20 BFP” and cannot be longer than 33” in length or wider than 2 ¼” in diameter. Any bats that fail to comply with these regulations will be considered illegal and be removed by the Umpire or Coach.

18. We are new, what do I get for my player to play this season?

This is a general guideline:

  • Molded Baseball Cleats: Required for all divisions except Tee Ball.

  • No Metal Cleats: Prohibited for safety in all younger divisions.

  • Metal Cleats Allowed: Juniors and Seniors may wear metal spikes.

  • Tee Ball Footwear: Tennis shoes are acceptable at this level.

  • Pants/ Belt/ Socks: Baseball pants, athletic socks and baseball belts of any color for practicing

19. We can’t participate in the season anymore, how do we cancel registration and request a refund? What is your refund policy?
